It's a guilty pleasure of mine: kicking back in a comfortable chair with a bowl of popcorn and watching the TV shows about New York lawyers. The pleasure of it seems to come from the disparity between my relaxed, vegetative state and the high-strung, big-stakes nature of the New York lawyers as they push along, or are subject to the twists and turns of, the plot.
No matter how hard-working, no one can keep up a pace like they. It eventually takes a toll on a person's nerves. That's why many New York lawyers choose to set up offices in upstate cities such as Newburgh or Poughkeepsie. I can understand why. The small town atmosphere gives them the opportunity to be more relaxed, focused and effective.
